Report: 9,000 jobs at risk if Mo. does not expand Medicaid

A report from the Missouri Hospital Association finds that 9,000 jobs would be lost, the insured would shoulder $1.1 billion in extra costs or $1.9 billion in capital investment would be lost if the state does not expand its Medicaid program. Because the Affordable Care Act cuts $4 billion from Missouri hospital payments, association officials said the state must expand Medicaid to recoup the money through higher numbers of covered patients.
