Sen. Sanders speaks out against plan to suspend wind projects in Vt.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., urged state lawmakers to defeat a bill calling for a three-year freeze on wind projects because such a plan would undermine efforts aimed at curbing climate change. Residents of Vermont should take pride in their state's record of environmental protection, Sanders said. "I have no doubt but that, if Vermont ceases new wind development the message will go out all across the country, spread by well-funded coal and oil companies, that even in Vermont, even in progressive Vermont, even in environmentally conscious Vermont, there is not a serious commitment to combating global warming," Sanders said.
