Maine utility gets nod to negotiate with community wind project

The Maine Public Utilities Commission has authorized Bangor Hydro Electric to negotiate 20-year deals with Jonesport Wind, Lubec Wind and the community-based Pisgah Mountain wind project in Clifton, Maine. Community wind is a fairly new concept, but "it's something that is going to have a bigger impact in the future," said Mike Smith, one of the founders of Pisgah Mountain. "It's small-scale and it can work."
