Cisco targets converged networks with Catalyst 3850 switch

Cisco Systems has introduced an integrated switch and WLAN controller combo to meet the demands of the bring-your-own-device community by making it easier to unify the management of converged wireless and wireline networks. The Catalyst 3850 Unified Access Switch is powered by a specialized programmable ASIC called Unified Access Data Plane and includes a built-in 40G WLAN controller and support for Cisco's software-defined networking architecture.
