Diabetes raises death risk in STEMI patients undergoing angioplasty

A study of 6,298 patients undergoing primary angioplasty for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction found those with diabetes had higher rates of reinfarction, stent thrombosis, target vessel revascularization and death than those who did not have diabetes. The results were published in Diabetes Care.
