Energy Dept.'s fossil fuel program head to resign

Charles McConnell, the Department of Energy's assistant secretary for fossil energy, will step down from his post Friday after two years, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said. "During that time, the Fossil Energy Department has broadened the focus of our oil and gas technology programs, focusing on ensuring that we can responsibly harness our nation's diverse fossil resources," Chu said. Earlier, the department's top spokesman and one of Chu's chief advisers resigned from their posts.
