FINRA agrees with proposed arbitrator restrictions

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to approve a proposal to prohibit people associated with mutual funds or hedge funds from arbitrating disputes between brokerages and clients. The move, however, does not address concerns over whether financial professionals can be "public arbitrators," a category that can include other varieties of professionals.
