How honest conversations can help your teen deal with stress

About 30% of college freshmen say they felt overwhelmed during their senior year in high school, a feeling that could easily continue as students enter higher education, according to a report by the University of California, Los Angeles. Parents can help their students de-stress by having a frank conversation with them about how they personally deal with stress, one expert suggests. "Now's the time to really stop preaching ... and start sharing with them," offers Jennifer Bernstein, a professor at Le Moyne College in New York.
