Tech firms applaud effort to improve skilled worker visa program

Tech firms such as Microsoft are praising congressional efforts to overhaul the H-1B visa program -- as well as broader efforts to revamp immigration policies to help lure and keep technology talent in the U.S. "The business community and technology sector are running up against a shortage of highly skilled labor, and we need more H-1B visas," said Brad Smith, general counsel of Microsoft.
