Utah legislature to consider bill rejecting NCLB money

Utah's House Education Committee unanimously backed a bill to forego $103 million in federal aid so the state would not be bound by NCLB requirements. While acknowledging that the federal rules were intrusive, Gov. Olene Walker questioned the wisdom of rejecting the money in a state with the lowest per-pupil spending in the country.
