Corn prices could fall by as much as 15% this year, poll shows

Average corn prices could decline by as much as 15% this year compared with 2011, amid expectations that last year's high prices would spur farmers to boost corn acreage to 94 million to 96 million acres, according to a Reuters poll. "We'll probably see some decline in raw commodities prices this year given [that] there's a return to normal weather," said John Anderson, a senior economist for the American Farm Bureau Federation. "If there is a drought in the Midwest, all bets are off," he added.
