Mo. at an impasse on creating insurance exchange

Missouri is at a standstill in the process of establishing a health insurance exchange under the health reform law. This article cites Republican opposition and a cautious approach by Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat. The state has received $23 million in federal health reform grants and has a task force to study creating an HIE. A bill from Sen. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph, would block any effort to create an exchange without legislative approval.
