NYTimes.com has held steady since pay wall went up

The New York Times has maintained a steady level of online readers since instituting its pay wall in March, a sign that asking people to pay to view Web content has not undercut the popularity of NYTimes.com. The Times had 44.8 million unique visitors in December 2011, down slightly from December 2010. "We certainly haven't seen the sorts of declines that people anticipated when we launched the pay wall," said Eileen Murphy, the Times' vice president for corporate communications.
