The U.S. installed a record 13,124 megawatts of wind power capacity in 2012, making it the best year ever for the industry, according to the American Wind Energy Association. Wind power accounted for 42% of newly installed capacity last year, besting natural gas to become the number one source of new electricity for the first time, AWEA said. "We're getting back to business. Developers are calling manufacturers for turbine contracts and talking to utilities about power purchase agreements," said AWEA interim CEO Rob Gramlich.
