Cleaning-product sales are projected to rise steadily through 2016

Sales of household and personal care products will increase 3.4% each year through 2016, according to IHS Chemical. Competition in emerging markets continues to be intense, and companies say they need to innovate -- not just reformulate -- their products to meet consumer demands. "Consumers are more discerning, and they're looking for meaningful innovation," said Ian Cook, Colgate-Palmolive's CEO, chairman and president.
