Gartner: Social software differs from CRM, ERP suites

The benefits of enterprise-based social networks have yet to be fully realized, Gartner says. Customer-relationship-management and enterprise-resource-planning programs work on a "push" basis, while social software has a "pull" factor, which means users opt in, the market-research firm said in a report.
