Chinese tourists boost Japan's New Year's sales

Tourists from China flooded Japan's stores during the nine-day Lunar New Year celebration, snapping up everything from consumer electronics and cosmetics to video games and groceries. Recent moves to ease visa requirements have expanded the tourist base beyond wealthy visitors, and less-affluent Chinese individuals and families are making more trips to Japan.
