The high prices of Ultra HD television sets and the limited content available for them will make such TVs a niche product for the next four years, according to NPD DisplaySearch. The market research firm estimates that Ultra HD TVs will represent only 0.1% of TVs shipped in North America this year, increasing to 4.8% of shipments by 2016. "The availability of content is key to consumer adoption of 4K×2K TVs, and TV manufacturers are anxious to prevent any potential delays that could stall adoption, as was the case with 3DTVs," DisplaySearch's Paul Gray said.
