Study: Myo-inositol may lower gestational diabetes risk

Taking myo-inositol supplements may reduce the likelihood of gestational diabetes among pregnant women at risk for the condition, according to a small study in Diabetes Care. Data on 220 pregnant women with a family history of type 2 diabetes showed 6% of those who took myo-inositol supplements in addition to folic acid developed gestational diabetes, compared with 15% of those only given folic acid.
