Millionth blood stem cell transplant is conducted

The world's millionth hematopoietic stem cell transplant was performed in December, the Worldwide Network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation has reported. The procedure was first performed in 1957, and it is used now to treat dozens of illnesses, including leukemia and other malignant diseases.
