Pregnancy hormone linked to postpartum depression

Corticotropin-releasing hormone, which helps prepare a woman's body for childbirth, may be linked to postpartum depression, a study says. Researchers found that 12 of 16 women suffering from PPD had high CRH levels midway through their pregnancies. When CRH levels drop after pregnancy, it can cause problems with the endocrine system.
