Ann Petronio, a travel consultant and the owner of Annie's Escapes in Rhode Island, discusses the growing pains associated with being a home-based travel agent. Petronio says that as a one-person business, home-based agents do everything, including sales, marketing, IT, accounting and receptionist. Often, agents are overwhelmed with the mounting piles of work they already have, and yet most want to grow their business. Resolving that is an ongoing battle for many home-based agents, Petronio writes.
