AHIP voices concern over privacy language in stimulus bill

AHIP is concerned that language in the economic stimulus bill to expand HIPAA privacy provisions could slow the nation's progress in adopting health IT. CEO Karen Ignagni says AHIP supports health IT funding in the legislation but is concerned with provisions restricting the use of patient data for disease management, care coordination and quality improvement programs.
