Blog: Teachers need to understand students' lives

Teachers should avoid projecting their own goals and priorities onto students, says instructional coach David Ginsburg. He writes in this blog post that teachers can begin to appreciate students' needs by using Maslow's hierarchy to consider how students' lives differ from their own. From there, teachers can begin to understand the root of some student behavior, such as tardiness, he writes.
