Pa. could tie student achievement to teacher evaluations

Officials in Pennsylvania are asking state lawmakers to factor student achievement into teachers' evaluations. The request comes as 100 districts statewide are participating in a program, partly funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, that ties student performance to evaluations. "Better evaluations are not something that is done to teachers but with teachers," said Jeannine French, chief of school performance for Pittsburgh Public Schools.
