Industry, lawmakers criticize BLM's shale-oil drilling plan

The Bureau of Land Management's proposal to review shale-oil drilling's potential effects on public land in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah drew criticism from Republicans and the oil and natural gas industry. "This unfortunately is just one more example to add to the ever-growing list of Obama administration actions that block U.S. energy production," said Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash. "The administration is sending negative signals to industry and capital markets at exactly the wrong time," said Jack Gerard, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute.
