Wash. considers using teacher evaluations in hiring decisions

Lawmakers in Washington are considering several changes to a new teacher-evaluation system adopted two years ago. Among them is a proposal that would require districts to use teacher evaluations in hiring decisions -- a determination now made by individual districts. Under the proposal, student test scores would be tied to teacher evaluations. The revisions also would increase the number of evaluation tiers from two to four.
