Decline in female circumcision celebrated by UN

Data showing a decline in female genital mutilation in 29 countries means there is the hope of ending the practice, according to UNICEF and the United Nations Population Fund. "Empowered women and girls are key to breaking the cycle of discrimination and violence and for the promotion and protection of human rights," said Babatunde Osotimehin of the Population Fund.
