Nation's capital envisions major development

Washington, D.C., plans to spend up to $8 billion in public funds to develop land on both sides of the Anacostia River. Although it could take up to 25 years to progress, the city's goals are for 3 million square feet of office space, 4,500 housing units, 32 acres of parkland and a 20-mile riverwalk.
