Senator urges DOD to reconsider plans to drop alternate engine

The Pentagon should not drop the alternate engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Sen. John Warner, R-Va., said. "If we have but a single engine then we're, in effect, giving a sole source contract to one contractor, which could amount to $100 billion," Warner said during a Senate Armed Services Committee budget hearing.
