Scientists use tiny circles of DNA to develop iPS cells

Scientists at Stanford's Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine said they safely turned stem cells derived from human fat into induced pluripotent stem cells using small circles of DNA, a technique that does away with the need for viruses to deliver genes into cells. They are planning to develop iPS cells to study heart disease and possibly create treatments for the condition.
