Electrodesiccation, laser removal clear DPN lesions

Dermatosis papulosa nigra, small, soft, brown papules on the face and neck of darker-skinned patients, can be removed safely with a hyfrecator or with a 532 nanometer laser, writes dermatologic surgeon Naissan Wesley. Curettage or cryotherapy can cause dyspigmentation in darker-skinned patients, but some dermatologists have reported success using fractional photothermolyis and Nd:YAG lasers. Topical anesthesia is not usually required for KTP lasers but can increase comfort in patients treated with electrodesiccation, Wesley writes.
