Iowa Senate bill seeks to create feed-in tariff for wind projects

A bipartisan group of lawmakers in the Iowa Senate introduced a bill that would create a feed-in tariff system designed to spur development of "utility-owned and customer-owned" renewable-energy production facilities. If approved, the bill would be the first in the country to differentiate wind-energy tariffs based on wind intensity. Under the bill, the Iowa Utility Board would be tasked with determining a wind tariff based on the "wind speed at the project location."
