8 ways to strike back at the challenges facing imaging

The field of radiology is facing a number of challenges, including reduced reimbursement, greater demand and questions about the necessity of many tests, but radiologists have the power to address some of these issues to secure their future, according to Dr. David Levin of Thomas Jefferson University. Levin recommends implementing eight steps, including monitoring and working to reduce radiation doses, consulting with referring physicians and working directly with patients, and preparing for lower reimbursement by considering hospital employment or reducing prices to appeal to payers.
