SCE rejects lawmakers' allegations on flawed reactor parts

Southern California Edison wasn't aware of steam-generator issues before the generators were installed at its San Onofre nuclear plant in California, the utility said. Citing an undisclosed document, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., alleged that SCE and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries rejected some safety adjustments to the generators prior to their installation. "SCE would never, and did not, install steam generators that it believed would not perform safely," the utility said.
