Treatment reverses type 1 diabetes in dogs, may hold human potential

Spanish researchers found dogs injected with gene therapy vectors maintained blood glucose levels after eating and while fasting and exercising without having hypoglycemic episodes. The dogs also attained complete remission of type 1 diabetes, researchers said. The findings in the journal Diabetes could help lead to the development of safe diabetes treatments in humans, researchers said.
