Ala. health officials announce changes to state rules on rabies control

Changes made to the rabies control rules in Alabama are now in effect, according to the state's Department of Public Health. The new regulations include permission for home quarantine at the discretion of county health officials if certain conditions are met, a requirement for annual vaccination of ferrets and an exemption from rabies vaccination if a veterinarian determines it to be contraindicated and possibly fatal.
