Dodd's regulatory reform likely to include SEC self-funding mandate

Financial regulatory reform legislation being crafted by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., is expected to include a provision for the Securities and Exchange Commission to be self-funded through the fees it collects. The self-funding mandate is a priority for the SEC. The fate of the underlying bill remains uncertain, however, particularly after last week, when Dodd announced he would move forward without Republican support.
