Officials say no public threat from Oconee tritium leak

Samples taken from two monitoring wells at the Oconee Nuclear Station in South Carolina tested above industry and federal standards for tritium, but that poses no danger to the public, Duke Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials said. "We have an aggressive, ongoing investigation in progress to determine the cause," Oconee executive Dave Baxter said.
