January exports surge for China, now world's top trading nation

China's exports jumped 25% in January from a year before, adding to evidence that the nation's economy is bouncing back from its slowdown. Meanwhile, trade figures for China and the U.S. showed that China in 2012 achieved the status of the world's top trading nation, with total trade of US$3.87 trillion exceeding the US$3.82 trillion for the much larger U.S. economy.
