Experts offer tips to prevent owners from losing their pets

Veterinarians and animal shelters suggest the use of ID tags or microchips to make identification of lost pets easier. However, tags can fall off, and according to AVMA, 40% of those animals equipped with microchips are not listed in any database. To resolve these problems, owners are advised to have their vets regularly check their pet's microchip, among other precautionary measures.
