HIT workgroup wants to focus on outcomes measures in stage 3 MU

An HIT Policy Committee workgroup has started exploring alternative approaches that could make stage 3 meaningful use more focused on outcomes instead of process measures. Workgroup Chairman Dr. Paul Tang said stage 3 might be a good place to pause as providers work to catch up with stage 1 and stage 2 requirements, and that stage 3 could emphasize aspects that need to advance, including patient engagement and interoperability.
