N.D. is benefiting from oil production boom, experts say

The oil production boom in North Dakota is spurring economic growth for the state, analysts say. Since 2009, employment figures rose by over 60% in the Bakken Shale area's 12 counties, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. "North Dakota was the first state to expand job growth from new fracking and horizontal drilling technologies," said Dean Bangsund, a research scientist at North Dakota State University's Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics.
