Study examines mortality rates linked to celiac disease

Patients with persistant villous atrophy associated with celiac disease have about the same mortality rates as celiac patients who sustained mucosal healing, according to U.S. and Swedish researchers. Children who had persistent villous atrophy also did not have a higher mortality rate, the study showed.
