Labiaplasty is gaining in popularity as more plastic surgeons learn to perform the procedure, says plastic surgeon Jennifer Walden. Women often seek the procedure to relieve local irritation, hygiene problems, pain and discomfort, she says. The procedure can result in scarring that causes as much pain as the initial condition if not done by a qualified surgeon, Walden says.
