Paragonix's donor heart transport system wins FDA nod

The FDA has given Paragonix Technologies 510(k) clearance for its Sherpa Pak Cardiac Transport System to be used in preserving donor hearts in transit for as long as four hours. The device uses oxygenated perfusion and cold storage technology, and the company hopes it will eventually be cleared to keep donor hearts alive for up to 12 hours.
