Studies conflict on aggressive diabetes treatment

Intensive treatment does not increase the risk of death in Type 2 diabetes patients, according to early results from a large study. The findings contradict the results of a recent U.S. trial that found a slight mortality increase in patients whose blood sugar had been reduced to near-normal ranges. Researchers say the new findings were based on more than twice as much data as the previous study.
