Verizon: FCC will set conditions to Rural deal

The FCC will set similar conditions for Verizon Communications' proposed purchase of Rural Cellular Corp. as it did for other recent buyouts of regional wireless carriers, Tom Tauke, an executive vice president at Verizon, predicted. In recent deals involving Alltel and AT&T, the FCC required the companies to accept a backdated cap on allocations they receive from the Universal Service Fund.
