Spill claims against Weatherford are thrown out

U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier tossed out all Gulf of Mexico oil-spill damage claims against BP contractor Weatherford International. There was no proof that Weatherford's float collar, a device to help contain the cement underneath the well, played a role in the 2010 rig blowout and subsequent oil spill, Barbier ruled. "In all of our operations, Weatherford's most important objective is to pursue the highest possible standards to maximize our quality, health, safety and environmental performance," the company said in response to the decision.
