Cape Wind's loan guarantee application gets another look

The Department of Energy is reportedly taking another look at the Cape Wind offshore wind project's request for a loan guarantee, albeit for a smaller amount than the $2 billion it asked for in 2011 to fund construction of 130 wind turbines in Massachusetts' Nantucket Sound. The agency had rejected the project's original request because of lack of progress. The project has secured buyers for 77.5% of its expected output and is hoping to begin construction by the end of this year.
